Vintage firearms are old guns that in the UK require a licence. Ok, that is not a scientific definition, but it’s my definition. And don’t know how otherwise to distinguish between old guns that are licence free antiques and old guns that are subject to licensing. Saying “old guns that need a licence” is such a mouthful!
The Luger pistol above belongs to a friend of mine and is a fully functional automatic pistol. Because it is not legally an antique, it must be kept on a firearms certificate. “Aren’t pistols banned?”, you say. Well not quite. There is a section of the 1997 Firearms Act devoted to the preservation of vintage and collectable pistols. This is Section 7 and further articles below this one will explain it all.
